The week a depleted Edinburgh City traveled to Glasgow to play Glasgow Uni. The Edinburgh team, missing Bill, Lee and Mike, were looking to keep the momentum of last weeks win over Glasgow City and clinch the league title with a victory.
After a slow start and several near misses the first goal came from Marc Watson with big outside shot. After that the goals came thick and fast for both teams with the first quarter ending 3 – 4 to the visiting Edinburgh side.
Edinburgh extended their lead in the second and third quarter to lead 3 – 7 at half time and 3 – 9 at the end of the third quarter. Glasgow Uni struck back in the final quarter with a fast break goal but it was too little too late and Edinburgh’s attack ended with three more goals. Final score Glasgow Uni 4 Edinburgh City 12.
Again Edinburgh showed a great team depth and with goals coming from Alasdair “Yeti” Carmichael, Marty Crawford, Pete Schulga, Greg Scott, Scott Swan and Marc Watson. This win mean Edinburgh City successfully retained the league title with two games left in the season.
Thank you to Colin and Dave for refereeing the game. A big congratulations to Bret Retalick for stepping up and putting in a solid performance in goal.
Next week Edinburgh take part in the McRobert Tournament on Saturday and face the Granite City Gladiators at Home on Sunday. If you are in Edinburgh come down and watch an exciting weekend of lacrosse.
