A weakened Edinburgh team travelled to Aberdeen to play Aberdeen University this weekend. Despite missing captain Marty Crawford and Vice Captain Marc Watson Edinburgh started strongly with 4 goals in the first quarter. Edinburgh continued the aggressive start in the second scoring another 3 only letting Aberdeen score 1 in return.
After half time Aberdeen’s superior numbers started to show. Edinburgh started to tire and Aberdeen started to look more dangerous on the counter attack. Aberdeen won the third quarter 3 – 1 cutting Edinburgh’s lead from 6 to 4 goals. The fourth quarter saw an obviously tired Edinburgh fight to stay ahead. Letting in 2 goals Edinburgh started to look like they were on the verge of collapse however their strong team spirit held and Edinburgh managed to take control of the game, stopping the Aberdeen counter attack and winning the game.
I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome back Nick DP playing his first game after a long time out due to injury. A big thank you must also go to Yeti for making the trip to referee.
